Function: root growth & development; bloom; energy storage & transfer within plant

Deficiency Produces purplish coloring; stunted roots

Recommended Product(s)

  • Tan Rock Phosphate (Espoma brand, for example)
    • this is plain ground rock, not the “superphosphate” that is commonly available
    • Phosphorus is 4% of the product
    • Apply 2 to 10 pounds per 100 square feet*
  • Black Rock Phosphate — for carbon-deficient soils

For new lawns, double the phosphorus, in order to establish strong root systems.
